Most of our service users are from Black, Asian and Ethnic Minority communities (although not exclusively), or are failed Asylum Seekers who have not received leave to remain and whose mental and physical health challenges are acute, people in mental health institutions.
We also work with young people as part of our family support.
It has come to our attention that young BAME people within vulnerable families are increasingly angry, having seen how their parents are struggling and have often faced discrimination. This has the potential to create a ticking time bomb of challenges including young people disengaged from. LITD wants to break the cycle and engage the young people in positive opportunities.
We also provide opportunities for beneficiaries to engage with and make decisions about the running and future projects of LITD. This enables beneficiaries to gain confidence and skills for recovery and employability.
